Clerk of Court Jessica Brewster was proud to present the Clerk’s Association Scholarship to Nicolas Herrera. Both of Nicolas’ parents are employees of the St. Tammany Parish Clerk of Court.

If you follow our region’s live music scene, you may recognize Nicolas as the frontman and bassist of the heavy metal band TRANSFUSION. After earning the most votes out of 155 bands earlier this year, Transfusion secured the first spot in the lineup and performed this past weekend at Olde Towne Metal Fest in Slidell.

Nicolas will soon graduate from Fontainebleau High School and plans to attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he will pursue a degree in music.

Our May Employee of the Month is TYLER DAROUSE!

Tyler has been a dedicated member of the Clerk’s Office IT Department for five years. He was nominated by a co‑worker who described him as a highly knowledgeable team member who consistently provides support and solutions. They shared that Tyler is truly a valuable asset to the Clerk’s Office.

Tyler says his favorite part of the job is being able to help everyone. When asked to describe the office in one word, he chose “supportive.”

LOUISIANA U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES RACES SUSPENDED
Early Voting Begins Saturday For All Other Races

Louisiana Secretary of State Nancy Landry today said that voting for the May 16 elections will proceed, with early voting beginning on Saturday, May 2.

However, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled yesterday that Louisiana’s current U.S. House District maps are an unconstitutional gerrymander and their use in the upcoming Congressional elections would violate law.

“Pursuant to 18:401.1(B), I have certified the emergency in light of the Supreme Court ruling. This is a mandatory step prior to the Governor issuing an executive order suspending the upcoming Louisiana U.S. House races. All other races on the ballot, besides the U.S. House races, will continue as scheduled, with early voting beginning on Saturday,” Secretary Landry said.

“Our office will post notices at each of the early voting sites to alert the public of this change. While the U.S. House races will remain on voters' ballots, any votes cast in those races will not be counted.” ... See MoreSee Less

A law passed by the Louisiana Legislature in 2025 now requires all non-attorney notaries to maintain a $50,000 surety bond (up from $10,000).

We were honored to donate money from the employees' dress down fund to Children's Advocacy Center-Hope House this month. Several of our Deputy Clerks took the opportunity to tour Hope House! Our April Employee of the Month is Ray Whitmer!

Ray was nominated by a co‑worker who shared that she always goes out of her way to help anyone in the Family Department. She greets everyone with a smile, a cheerful “good morning,” and a genuine interest in how they’re doing. She never hesitates to answer questions — and instead of just giving an answer, Ray takes the time to show you how. Her coworkers describe her as a true blessing to the department and say they love working with her!

Ray has been with the Clerk’s Office for five years. Her favorite part of the job is helping guide customers through the difficult processes that come with divorce and custody matters. She describes her work as both rewarding and challenging.

Our March Employee of the Month is SHAWN MAGEE! Shawn's co-worker nominated her for her big smile, her willingness to help whenever and wherever needed, and her clear and concise answers when asked a question.

Shawn has been a Deputy Clerk for 28 years and says that she loves being a part of maintaining accurate public records. She uses the word DEPENDABLE to describe the Clerk's Office. She said she feels like it is steady, consistent, and committed to doing the right thing!
