We are so happy to announce our Employee of the Month for October is LEXI!

Lexi’s co-workers say she goes above and beyond. For months, she has been working extra time for her own division, as well as helping other departments. She helps with scanning the “sheriff returns not made”, which are never-ending and come in huge piles. She is always offering to help when she sees they are stressed and/or bogged down, and she always does it with a smile.

Lex has been with the Clerk's Office for 23 years. Her favorite part of the job is when she completes a goal she has set for herself. She says she loves it when her division works as a team to solve problems. She loves the support they offer each other, whether they are laughing or crying!

We love the team-player attitude and are so happy to have Lexi on our team!

Know Before you GEAUX. #GeauxVoteLouisiana Secretary of State Nancy Landry announces the beginning of a comprehensive, months-long, statewide education campaign to inform voters of the legislatively-mandated transition to closed party primaries starting in 2026. The campaign begins with an educational mail piece to all households having at least one registered voter, which will arrive in voters’ mailboxes in the coming days.

“This educational campaign will ensure that all voters are empowered with the knowledge they need ahead of the transition to closed party primaries,” Secretary Landry said. “Because party affiliation is key to participating in the party primaries, I urge all voters to check their voter registration at GeauxVote.com and to make updates as needed.”

Per Act 1 of the 2024 First Extraordinary Session, the change to closed party primaries only applies to the offices of U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, Louisiana Supreme Court, Public Service Commission (PSC), and Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE). Other ballot contests will be open to all voters.

Voters are encouraged to visit GeauxVote.com/CPP, download the free Geaux Vote Mobile App, follow the Louisiana Secretary of State on social media, contact their parish Registrar of Voters or Clerk of Court, or call the Secretary of State’s Election Hotline at 800-883-2805 to learn more.

It is with great pride that we announce the Employee of the Month for August is Adam Bartlett.

Adam’s compassion and care for his co-workers is a unique and admirable trait. They say that he is there whenever and whatever they need him for.

Adam is rarely seen without a smile or laughter on his face. The customers love him almost as much as his co-workers do. Almost.

He says his favorite part of the job is that there is something new to learn every day. He describes the office in one word as: CONNECTED.

Adam has been with the Clerk’s office for 4 years. He has worked in Personal Documents in Slidell, Land Records, Admin and back to Personal Docs. He is in training to move to Archives in the next couple of years.

We don’t care what department he is in, as long as he stays around!

Big changes coming this week for voters who are registered as INDEPENDENT!Important news for Louisiana voters: Beginning on August 1, any voter who is registered as Independent will automatically have their party affiliation changed to "No Party." Many voters registered as Independent, believing that they were choosing not to affiliate with any party; however, they were affiliated with the Independent Party.

Changing voters’ registrations from Independent to “No Party” will help eliminate voter confusion heading into the Closed Party Primaries and will ensure that those who wish to be unaffiliated with a political party can participate in the party primaries.

Beginning in 2026, Louisiana will be transitioning to the Closed Party Primary system, which was created by the Legislature in Act 1 of the 2024 First Extraordinary Session. In party primaries, Democrats can only vote in the Democratic primary, Republicans can only vote in the Republican primary, and No Party voters can choose which party primary they participate in, but these voters must stick with that party through the first round and the party primary runoff, if one occurs.

To learn more, or to check your party affiliation, visit GeauxVote.com or download the
free GeauxVote Mobile App.

Our July Employee of the Month is GABRIEL HERRERA!

Gabe has been a fabulous addition to our staff! He joined us 9 months ago and has been an asset to multiple divisions ever since! Gabe started in Passports and quickly picked up all of the “ins and outs” of the Passport division. He was described by his peers as “always smiling, ready to help, and patient with the customers.” Gabe’s fluency in English and Spanish has been a huge blessing to non-English speaking customers needing passports.

Gabe has since moved on to IT, where he was originally intended to land. He has received further certifications and attended functions with Jessica. You can find him moving computers around as we make adjustments, as well as working on other projects in IT.

As his co-workers stated, “Gabe is a true asset to the Clerk’s Office. He always comes across in a professional manner with the customers. He has a positive and calm demeanor that is a perfect fit for any position he occupies."

We are so happy Gabe decided to join us here, and hope he sticks around for many years to come!

CONGRATULATIONS, GABE!
